This large bottle with disc rim was hand-thrown on the wheel in white stoneware. The crackle effect is produced by drying sodium silicate on the clay before ‘bellying out’ the piece. The piece represents the way in which a lot of my pieces start out - by searching for clay deposits. Generally the best signs of wild clay are sharp angular cracks in the earth, often accompanied by rust-coloured patina, similar to the rutile used on the disc of this vase. It is fully functional and can be used as a vase for flowers, or as a purely decorative or ornamental piece.

Dimensions: 19cm H x 11cm W

All measurements in centimetres and approximate to a few millimetres. Width is usually from widest point.

Photographs have been taken in studio and/or natural light with a Nikon D3200 and have no colour editing. Colours may appear slightly different from the actual piece depending on screen and lighting differences.
